Brewton area residents may have already seen a new face around town and will get a chance beginning this fall to meet the man behind the coat. Dr. Aaron Morgan recently signed an agreement to join the Brewton medical community and will begin working occasional shifts in the D.W. McMillan Hospital emergency room this fall. Morgan has plans to begin his family medical practice in an office at the Brewton Medical Center next July, officials said. “We are very excited,” said Tommy Shehan, administrator for the Brewton Medical Center. “Dr. Morgan will greatly enhance our capability to provide quality medical care to local residents.” During his last year of residency at the University of South Alabama, Dr. Morgan will be working periodically in the emergency department at D.W. McMillan Memorial Hospital. At the conclusion of his residency, he will be practicing full time at the Brewton Medical Center. Morgan is a graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi where he earned a B.S. degree in biology and psychology and is a graduate of Ross University School of Medicine. He is completing his residency through the University of South Alabama where he is the chief resident. “I am happy we are able to bring Dr. Morgan to the Brewton area,” Chris Griffin, administrator at D.W. McMillan said. “I look forward to him being part of our healthcare system’s future.” Dr. Morgan’s family will also be joining him in Brewton. Wife, Kristin, son, Matthew, and daughters, Emily and Allison will be relocating to Brewton in the summer of 2014. D.W. McMillan Memorial Hospital is governed by the Escambia County Healthcare Authority Board of Directors, and serves an acute care hospital that has been a part of the Brewton community for over fifty years.
