WSN football to open at Holtville

Coming off a 9-3 season last year, third-year W.S. Neal head football coach Doug Hoehn has released the 2013 football schedule for the Eagles of East Brewton.
W.S. Neal’s 2013 schedule shows 10 games with all games scheduled for Fridays. The Eagles will have five home games and five away games. W.S. Neal will play their seven scheduled region games this year with four being home and three away.
The Eagles have three non-region games scheduled this season with two home and one away.
The Eagles will open their season with a non-region game at Holtville. In week five, the Eagles will play at Hillcrest in a non-region game before ending their season at home against Millry.
The Eagles have scheduled their homecoming game for week six, Oct. 4, against Excel.
Region opponents this year for the Eagles will be Straughn who went 9-4 last year and advanced to the state semifinals before losing to eventual state runner-up Fayette County—the same team W.S. Neal lost to in the second round of the state playoffs.
Cottage Hill who went 0-9 and Southside of Selma who went 2-8.
Excel went 4-6 last year and Bayside Academy went 7-5. Opp went 6-4 while T.R. Miller was 10-2.
Non-region opponents for W.S. Neal will be Holtville who was 1-9 last year and Hillcrest who was 2-8. Millry will take on the Eagles in week 10 and went 4-6.
W.S. Neal will host Elba in a preseason game on Thursday, August 22, at 7 p.m.
The game was originally scheduled for Friday, August 23.
All games will begin at 7 p.m.
