James Jack Peevy

Mr. Jack James Peevy, 87, of Forrest Avenue, died Sunday, July 7, 2013

at his residence after a brief illness. He was a native ad life long

resident of Escambia County. He was a member of Cedar Hill United

Methodist Church where he was former chairman of the official board

and a member of the Mens Club. He was a 1943 graduate of W.S. Neal

High School, a U.S. Merchant Marine veteran, a member of the Alabama

Forestry Association, and owner/president of Harold Brothers Veneer

Company for over 35 years.. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary

Rose Peevy; four brothers, Luther, Malvin, Maxwell, and Durward Peevy;

and a son-in-law, Carl Roberson.

He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Still Peevy of East Brewton; a

son, Waylon (Ann) Peevy of Brewton; a daughter, Amanda (Pat) Kelly of

Camp Hill; a step-daughter, Margaret Ann (Bob) Bragg of Pensacola,

Fla.; two brothers, Lyman (Frances) Peevy and Leonard (Lucille) Peevy,

both of Brewton; seven grandchildren,  Jason Peevy, Angela Peevy,

Emily Waller, Rachel Wiggins, Joshua Roberson, Katie Bragg and Steven

Bragg; and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 9, at 3 p.m. at  Cedar Hill

United Methodist Church with the Rev. Steve VanLandingham and the Rev.

Bill Wade officiating. Burial followed in Fort Crawford Cemetery with

Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing. Condolences may be
