TRM B-team football dominates WSN 52-6

The T.R. Miller Tiger B-team football team scored early and often Monday night in East Brewton as they dominated W.S. Neal in a 52-6 season opening win.
The Tigers held W.S. Neal to only six points in the game while scoring 24 points in the first quarter and 14 in the second quarter to take a 38-0 lead at the half.
In the second half, T.R. Miller added six points in the third quarter and eight in the fourth quarter to get the 46-point win.
In the first quarter for the Tigers, T.R. Miller benefited from a W.S. Neal safety on a bad snap on a punt, a 52-yard kickoff return by Ahmaud Taylor, a 1-yard run by Taylor and a 52-yard pass play from Chardian Johnson to Brooks Brown.
In the second quarter, Caleb Winton hooked up with Austin Holmes on a 25-yard pass play to put T.R. Miller up 30-0 and Taylor added another 1-yard run to build a 38-0 lead at the half.
In the second half, T.R. Miller built a 44-0 lead with 8:47 left in the third when Kristian Smith scored on a 20-yard run.
W.S. Neal scored their lone points of the game with 7:47 left in the third quarter when Keith Barksdale broke a 45-yard run to cut the lead to 44-6.
In the fourth quarter, with a running clock, Alex Daugherty recovered a W.S. Neal fumble in the end zone to get the final score of the game with 9:04 left to play to put the Tigers up 52-6.
T.R. Miller had 11 first downs in the win while W.S. Neal had five. The Tigers had 245 total yards in the win with 140 coming on the ground on 22 carries. T.R. Miller had 105 yards in the air.
W.S. Neal had 96 total yards with all coming on the ground on 31 carries.
Taylor led the Tigers in rushing with 63 yards on nine carries. Taylor accounted for three total touchdowns for T.R. Miller. Smith had 52 yards on six carries and had one touchdown. Chardian Johnson had one carry for 21 yards.
Caleb Winton was 4-for-4 passing for 53 yards and one touchdown. Johnson was 1-for-2 with 52 yards and a touchdown. Brooks Brown had three catches for 82 yards and one score.
Holmes had one catch for 25 yards and had one touchdown.
For W.S. Neal, Barksdale led with 49 yards on nine carries and had one touchdown. Peyton Salter had 16 yards on five carries and Branden Conway added 27 yards on five carries.
The game was delayed for about 15 minutes in the third quarter as a W.S. Neal player was injured in the game and had to be carted off the field.
This is the third time this season an incident like this has occurred as players from W.S. Neal have been carted off in a middle school game last week, in varsity action this past Friday and again Monday night.
All incidents were for precautionary reasons and all players are fine.
With the win, T.R. Miller started the year with a 1-0 record while W.S. Neal starts their 2013 season with an 0-1 record.
T.R. Miller will play at Opp Monday, September 16 while W.S. Neal will be off next week. The Eagles of East Brewton will travel to Andalusia on Monday, September 23.
