Facing off against Pensacola State Thursday afternoon in a fall softball game, the Jefferson Davis Community College Lady Warhawk softball team took a 12-0 loss to the Lady Pirates.
JDCC fell behind PSC 1-0 in the first inning and 4-0 in the third inning after giving up a two-run homerun. From there, JDCC was outscored 8-0 by PSC to take the 12-0 loss.
“We only played 11 innings which was decided by both coaches due to limit amount of players for Pensacola State,” JDCC head coach Misti Nims said. “We did not do well at the plate. We had only five total hits. We were too anxious and we were not disciplined enough to get anything going on the offensive side. Defensively, we did a good job and the pitching staff could have done a little better hitting their spots. Pensacola did a great job of hitting which allowed them to score 12 totals runs, which six runs were off two home runs.”
JDCC was scheduled to play at home Saturday at 1 and 3 p.m. against Xtreme Energy but the game has been cancelled due to expected weather conditions in the area today.
