WSNMS football now 3-0

The W.S. Neal Middle School Eagle football team kept their record unblemished Thursday night at home as they took down the Excel Panthers 24-12.
With the win, W.S. Neal improved to 3-0 this season.
W.S. Neal took a 6-0 lead early when Jacobey Hawthorne scored on a 12-yard run, but the conversion failed.
After Excel scored, the game was tied 6-6 at the half.
In the second half, Christian Wood scored on an 8-yard to go up 12-6 after a failed two-point conversion. Excel tied the game in the second quarter to tie the game at 12-all heading into the fourth quarter.
In the fourth quarter, W.S. Neal outscored Excel 12-0 to get the win.
In the quarter, Wood scored on a 21-yard run to put W.S. Neal up 18-12. Later, Marvin Maddox recovered an Excel fumble and scored on a 23-yard run.
Maddox led W.S. Neal rushing with 101 yards on 10 carries and had one score while Darius Williams had eight carries for 81 yards. Wood added 93 yards on nine carries and had two scores while Hawthorne had 55 yards on six carries and a score.
Kristian Taylor finished with 14 yards on two carries while Nate Hutchison had 21 on four carries. Overall, W.S. Neal finished with 365 yards of total offense, all coming on the ground.
W.S. Neal had no passing yards in the win.
W.S. Neal will play their final home game of the season Thursday when they host Monroeville at 6 p.m. at W.S. Neal Stadium.
