Riggs up for Alabama’s best coach

Published 9:12 am Wednesday, October 2, 2013

Last year this time, Brewton area residents had the chance to vote the Battle of Murder Creek game between T.R. Miller and W.S. Neal as the best rivalry in the nation.
While the game won as the best in the state and the region, it came up short in the national finals.
Now, USA Today has a poll out for the best football coach in the state of Alabama and T.R. Miller’s Jamie Riggs is one of the eight coaches up for the honor.
Along with Riggs is Buddy Anderson of Vestavia Hills, Danny Horn of Benjamin Russell, Glenn Vickery of Daphne, Jackie O’Neal of Reeltown, Josh Niblett of Hoover, Mark Freeman of Spanish Fort, Terry Curtis of UMS-Wright.
Riggs, who is option E in the poll, has a 27-year record of 273-75. He has captured four state titles and four runner-up finishes.
