Downtown Brewton will be jamming out Saturday afternoon, as the first Twin Creek Combine will be held at Jennings Park at 5 p.m.

The free concert put on by Burnt Corn Creek and Trail and Antigone’s Art Loft will feature three bands — one with local ties to the area.

“We will start at 5 p.m. and go to 8 or 9 p.m. as far as the music is concerned,” Chris Fields, one of the organizers of the event said. “We are encouraging people to hang out at the park as long as they want. We will hold the event on the north side of the park, where there is a beach near the creek. There is a small wooded area with picnic tables and a nice flat plane for people to put down blankets and chairs.”

Fields said Brewton needs something like the free concert.

“Brewton needs just a nice avenue for people to get out and enjoy their park,” he said. “It is good advertisement for the park and some local businesses. Megan Lisenby Brantley with the Art Loft is helping out a lot with this and has been very instrumental in the planning.”

Bands that will be playing at the event include Adron, The Volks and Brewton’s own Den of Thieves.

“The Den of Thieves are from here in Brewton and Shannon Brantley who is in the Den of Thieves is helping us organize the event and is doing all the tech for us,” Fields said. “The Volks are out of Mobile. They are a pop and rock-and-roll band much more contemporary than Brewton has probably has ever seen. Adron is a tropicolia, Caribbean, South American-sounding band. They are out of Atlanta. People can go to our Facebook page and they can see links to the bands and videos to hear what they sound like.”

While the concert is free, Fields said food vendors would be at the event.

“They will be taking money for their wares, but people are encouraged to come out and have fun at the free concert,” Fields said. “I have heard there is a Cajun vendor coming as well as Pig Daddy’s barbecue who always helps us out in the park. Also, there is an ice cream truck from Milton. We will also have boiled peanuts. I want to encourage everyone who is in town for their class reunions to come. That is why we put it on for this weekend. Everyone comes to Brewton and says there is nothing to do, but there is a ton to do this weekend. We would love to see them at Art in the Park and the concerts.”
