After a slow start to the season that saw them start 0-2 with losses to W.S. Neal and to Excel, the Brewton Middle School Tiger football team picked up their fourth straight win Thursday at Excel to improve to 4-2 with a 38-14 win.
In the 24-point win over Excel, the Panthers scored first and last in the game, but it was Brewton’s scores in the middle that propelled them to the win.
Excel opened the game on a 77-yard run to take an early 6-0 lead.
From their Brewton scored 38 unanswered points to build a 38-6 lead.
Demarcus McMillan scored three straight touchdowns for Brewton as he scored on a 2-yard run to help give Brewton an 8-6 lead after a successful 2-point conversion.
From there, McMillan added a 15-yard run and Brewton added the conversion to take a 16-6 lead. McMillan scored his final touchdown of the night on a 30-yard interception to give Brewton a 24-6 lead.
Michael Campbell added Brewton’s final two scores as he scored on an 8-yard run and then a 15-yard pass play from Drew Williamson to put Brewton up 38-6.
Excel scored late in the fourth to cut the lead to 38-14, but the Tigers were able to get the win.
Brewton will take on 5-0 W.S. Neal Thursday in Brewton at 6 p.m. before ending their season Tuesday, Oct. 22 with a road game at Earnest Ward.
