Shirley Anne Taite

Mrs. Shirley Ann Taite, 62, of Brewton, died Thursday, October 13, 2013. She was a native of Fort Valley, Ga., and a resident of Brewton. She attended Medina High School in Medina, New York, and later received a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education from the University of West Florida and a master’s degree from Alabama State University.
She was preceded in death by her husband, the late Bishop James Taite, her parents Rufus Harper and Christine Holloway Harper and her brother, Rufus Harper, Jr.
She is survived by her four daughters, Yosminda (Derrick) Bassett, Devake Taite, Udricka Taite and Shirley C. Taite, five grandchildren, Emmanuel Nared, Semaj Nared, Yosheva Bassett, Morgan Bassett and Boaz Bassett, and siblings, Currie Lucas, Margie T. Harper, Forrest L. Harper, Burrell (Kathy) Harper, Equilla (Benjamin) Shannon, Elizabeth A. Westbrook, Joseph (Lynn) Harper, Princess M. Harper and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services were held Monday, Oct. 14, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the Gateway to Heaven Pentecostal House of God in Brewton, with Shirley C. Taite, Pastor, Pastor Ellis J. David, Jr. officiating. Burial followed in Williams Cemetery, Cantonment, Fla., with Presley-Fluker Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
