Both the T.R. Miller JV and varsity volleyball teams ended their regular season on a winning note Tuesday in Andalusia as they came away with wins over the Lady Bulldogs.
The JV Lady Tigers defeated Andalusia 2-0 to finish with a 9-3 record while the varsity Lady Tigers won 3-0 to finish their regular season with a 15-5 record.
In the JV game, T.R. Miller won 25-16 and 26-24.
In set one, Grace Ruzic and Taylor Austin had five service points each while Mykala Harrison had five kills and two blocks.
In set two, Ruzic had six points while Harrison had four and four kills.
“The JV did an excellent job tonight and all season,” head coach Greg White said. “Those girls came to practice every day, worked hard and really picked up on the things that we were trying to teach them. They finished their season 9-3 and ended it with a five game winning streak. We look for some good things out of this bunch in the future.”
In the varsity game, T.R. Miller won 25-16, 25-14 and 25-20.
In set one, Moriah Brundidge and Amelia Peach had seven service points each while Amber Terry had four points and three kills and Karisa Nelson had six assists.
In set two, Brundidge had six service points and three assists while Peach had four points and three kills. Brittany Warren had four service points while Nelson had four points and one kill.
In the final set, Warren led with five service points, Terry had four points and three kills and Roberts had three points and three kills.
“I thought we played a solid three games tonight,” White said. “As a team we served the ball real well. Maybe the best we have served all season. Andalusia has a pretty good team with some good blockers, but we were able to control the net for most of the match. I was really pleased with the overall effort of the team. They played very hard and we are going to need to keep doing that as we prepare for the area tournament next Monday.”
T.R. Miller will play Cottage Hill on Monday at 4:30 p.m. in the area tournament at Bayside Academy while Bayside plays W.S. Neal at 4:30 in another gym on Bayside’s campus.
