On senior night Thursday in a doubleheader against Flomaton, the W.S. Neal Lady Eagle volleyball team claimed two wins to improve to 7-13 this season.
In the first match, W.S. Neal defeated Flomaton 2-1. The Lady Eagles lost set one 25-22 but rallied to win set two 25-13 and set three 18-16. In match two, W.S. Neal defeated Flomaton 2-0 as they came away with a 25-10 win in set one and a 25-17 win in set two.
“It was a great two wins for us tonight for multiple reasons,” W.S. Neal head coach Jason Blaney said. “We needed these wins after the last couple weeks and we have had some great practices this week, which showed on the court and this gives us some moment heading into area tournament in a week.”
Blaney said he also wanted the win for his two seniors.
“It is hard to express what Jasmine (Crook) and Tiffany (Sawyer) mean to this team,” he said. “Not only their playing ability, but the leadership they bring and positive attitude and work ethic is second to none. I regret that I only had one year with them and I thank them that as I came in and changed the offense and defense they bought into it and gave me their all.
“They will forever be a part of our Eagle Family.”
