Technology helped Brewton police track down a stolen cell phone — and the suspect accused of taking it.

Last week a shopper at Walmart put her phone down at the store and forgot it, Brewton Sgt. Patrick Caylor said.

“She laid it down, walked off and forgot it, and (the suspect picked it up and kept it,” Caylor said.

The victim used an app on her iPhone to find her phone, and police used surveillance cameras from Walmart to find the suspect.

Brewton Police arrested Domingo Ventura Flores, 28, of Brewton, and charged him with theft of lost property in the second degree.
