Undercover stings net two drug arrests

Two separate undercover operations led to the arrests of two Brewton men on drug charges, police said.

Agents with the Brewton Police Department’s narcotics division on Monday charged Anthony Lamar Dees, 32, 1312 Sowell Road, with two counts of unlawful distribution of a controlled substance and two counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance, Sgt. Andrew Casey said.

“The arrest of Dees was made at the conclusion of an undercover operation in which agents with the Brewton Police Department narcotics division were able to make controlled purchases of crack cocaine from (Dees) on two separate occasions within the city limits of Brewton,” Casey said.

After his arrest, Dees was transported to the Escambia County Detention Center, where he still being held Tuesday after his $100,000 bond was revoked.

Last week, in a separate incident, police arrested Derrick Lamar Smith, 28, of 102 May St., on two counts of unlawful distribution of a controlled substance and two counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance, Casey said.

The arrest happened under similar circumstances, which included an undercover buy, Casey said.

Bond information was not available for Smith.
