November tasks: Potlucks, honor seniors

November kicks off three new tasks for the Brewton Reborn project, which asks residents to look at new ways to improve our community.

This month’s activities:

• Fix it even if you didn’t break it.

“Find something around your neighborhood to fix, and send us a picture,” said Connie Baggett, director of program management for the city of Brewton. “Lend a hand where you can this month as a great way to show gratitude.”

• Have potlucks.

Brewton Reborn will even sponsor a “Rock the Dock” each Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at The Hourglass downtown. Residents can bring a potluck dish, drinks and a lawn chair to enjoy fellowship and live music at the Hourglass’ loading dock.

“Plan your own potluck events this month and let us know how they went,” Baggett said.

• Honor elders.

Baggett said the city is asking residents to send nominations for a series of interviews in which mature residents tell stories to younger generations.

“City Hall will feature a “Wall of Fame” honoring our own greatest generation here in town,” Baggett said.

Residents can call 809-1777 to nominate their favorite mature citizens.
