Ronice Cook Thames

Mrs. Ronice Cook Thames, 94, of Brewton died Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013, in a Jacksonville, Fla., hospital after a brief illness.

She was a native of Escambia County and had lived in Brewton most of her life. She moved to Jacksonville 10 years ago to be closer to her daughter and other immediate family members. She was a graduate of Troy State University with a bachelors degree in elementary education and taught elementary and special education for 35 years. She was socially active in the Brewton community and was a long-time member of the Brewton First Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lanoy Thames.

She is survived by her daughter Rebecca Thames (Jim) Savage of Jacksonville, Fla.; her grandson Erick (Dawn) Wilson of Jacksonville, Fla.; and two great-granddaughters, Camryn and Ansley Wilson.

Visitation will be Friday, Nov. 8 from 1:30 until 2 p.m. at the Brewton First Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. with Senior Pastor Jack Fitts officiating. Burial will follow in Green Acres Cemetery in Brewton with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
