Mrs. Virginia Kerlin Phillippi, 85, died Saturday, Nov. 9, 2013 in Camden

She was born on Nov. 20, 1927, in Mobile. She graduated from Huntington College with a degree in music with an organ concentration and then became the music director at the First Methodist Church in Brewton. In Brewton, she met and married Dr. F.M. “Frank” Phillippi, Jr. and they spent many years in Brewton before retiring to Possum Bend near Camden. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Camden.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. George W. Kerlin and Pearl Moore Kerlin and her husband, Dr. F.M. “Frank” Phillippi, Jr.

She is survived by two sons, Dr. F.M. “Bucky” (Diane) Phillippi, III of Meridian, Miss.  and George M. “Mac” (Martha) Phillippi of Birmingham; her grandchildren, Dr. F.M. “Mark” (Cathy) Phillippi, IV of Jackson, Miss., Kathryn P. (Brad) Smith of Fairhope and Patrick K. Phillippi of Washington, D.C.; five great grandchildren and many beloved nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the Cook Family Cemetery in Possum Bend.
