Tournament schedule announced for 2013 Escambia County Tournament

While it is still a month away, the 2013 version of the Escambia County Tournament has been scheduled for a tip off on Friday, Dec. 20, at Flomaton gymnasium in Flomaton.
Games will be played on Friday, Saturday (Dec. 21), and Monday (Dec. 23), with game times set to begin at 3 p.m. each day. Games will also begin at 4:30, 6 and 7:30 p.m.
The tournament will feature all four public high school teams in Escambia County—W.S. Neal, T.R. Miller, Flomaton, and Escambia County of Atmore.
Last season, Flomaton took the girls championship for the third straight year and the Escambia County Blue Devils took the boys championship in the tournament for the fifth straight year. Last year’s tournament was played in Atmore.
Beginning Friday, Dec. 20, the Lady Eagles of W.S. Neal will start the tournament off as they begin play at 3 p.m. against the Lady Blue Devils of Escambia County.
At 4:30 p.m., W.S. Neal’s boys will play Escambia County. Escambia County will be the home team in the game.
Following the W.S. Neal and Escambia County boys game, T.R. Miller and Flomaton will square off against each other with the girls beginning at 6 p.m. and the boys playing the final game of the night at 7:30 p.m. Flomaton will be the home team in their game with T.R. Miller.
On Saturday, T.R. Miller and W.S. Neal will start things off with the girls playing the 3 p.m. game and the boys hitting the floor at 4:30 p.m. T.R. Miller’s teams will be the home teams against W.S. Neal.
Flomaton and Escambia County will play the night games with the girls playing at 6 p.m. followed by the boys at 7:30 p.m. Flomaton will be the home team against the Blue Devils.
After a break from tournament play on Sunday, the tournament will resume on Monday, Dec. 23, with Escambia County and T.R. Miller’s girls playing first at 3 p.m. and the boys team squaring off at 4:30 p.m. Escambia County will be the home team.
Flomaton and W.S. Neal will end the tournament with the girls playing at 6 p.m. and the boys playing at 7:30 p.m. Flomaton will be the home team against W.S. Neal.
In case of a tie, the first tiebreaker will be head to head followed by points allowed, points scored and then a coin flip.
A first place trophy will be given to the first place girls and boys teams.
Awards will be given to those players who make the all-tournament team. Each member of the team will be selected by his or her coach.
The first place team in the boys and girls bracket will have two members on the all-county team plus the Most Valuable Player.
The second place team will have two members as well as the third and four place team. Awards will be handed out at the awards ceremony after the last game of the tournament on Monday.
Admission to the tournament will be $7.
Next year the tournament is set to be played at T.R. Miller.
