East Brewton United Methodist to host Thanksgiving service Sunday

A Thanksgiving tradition will be held again this year at First United Methodist Church in East Brewton as churches in the area celebrate Thanksgiving and kickoff the Christmas season in the community.

A community-wide Thanksgiving service will take place at the FUMC Church in East Brewton Sunday beginning at 6 p.m.

Congregations from churches in East Brewton, as well as community members, are invited to attend the event.

Dr. James Meadows, pastor of First Church of the Nazarene in East Brewton, will be the guest speaker and deliver the Thanksgiving message.

Following the services at First United Methodist Church inā€ˆEast Brewton, everyone is invited to enjoy refreshments at the East Brewton Civic Center.

After a time of fellowship, guests will make their way to the adjacent Ft. Crawford Park for the traditional lighting of the tree for the City of East Brewton.

East Brewton Mayor Terry Clark will throw the switch to light the lights throughout the park. Those attending will be lead in a selection of Christmas Carols to enter the holiday season.
