In their second game of the season and second of the Choctawhatchee Thanksgiving Tournament Tuesday, the T.R. Miller Lady Tigers took on the Niceville Lady Eagles—but there was nothing nice about the game for the Lady Tigers.
In the game, T.R. Miller fell to 0-2 this season as they suffered a 48-11 loss to Niceville. T.R. Miller lost 50-12 to South Walton Monday in the season and tournament opener.
“Our defense has been pretty good,” Lady Tiger head coach Ron Jackson said. “We just have to play good defense for 32 months. I just really need to find someone who can provide us some offense.”
In the game Monday, the Lady Tigers fell behind 4-0 to start the game, but tied it at 4-all with 3:48 left in the first quarter.
From there it was all downhill for the Lady Tigers as Niceville went on a 9-0 run to end the quarter with a 13-4 lead. In the second quarter, Niceville would extend their run to 11-0 and added another 11-0 run in the quarter to outscore T.R. Miller 13-3 in the quarter to grab a 26-7 lead at the half.
In the third quarter, T.R. Miller cut Niceville’s lead to 32-11 with 2:11 left in the period, but once again, Niceville end the quarter on a 6-0 run to take a 38-11 lead into the fourth.
In the fourth quarter, the Lady Tigers were held scoreless as Niceville increased their run to 16-0 to end the game with the 37-point victory.
Mekhia Williams led T.R. Miller with six points while Destiny Washington and Akilah Brazile both had two points each. Steely Ruzic chipped in one point in the loss.
The Lady Tigers shot 1-for-5 from the free throw line while Niceville was 7-for-16.
T.R. Miller was scheduled to play Daphne at 1 p.m. in the tournament final Wednesday.
T.R. Miller’s game at Monroe County Saturday has been postponed to a later date.
