A unique version of a 5K will be held in Brewton in the coming weeks, as a Jingle Bell Glow Walk/Run 5K will take place on Thursday, Dec. 12 at 6 p.m. The 5K will be held at Jennings Park.
Edi Kelley is in charge of the race and said several have already signed up to take part in the event.
The Jingle Bell Glow Run is a Relay for Life fundraising event to raise foundation money for the big relay event on March 15,” Kelley said. “We encourage people to dress in Holiday type of attire and will award prizes for best female and male costume. We have 12 people that have signed up at this point.”
Registration starts at 5:15 p.m. with race kickoff at 6 p.m.
“The route is the outer lap at Jennings Park, which will be done five times,” Kelley said. “Prizes will be awarded for first place male and female youth and adult. We are also looking for volunteers to post along the course. We would love people to pre-register. All participants will receive a glow necklace or stick to wear during the race.”
Registration forms are available at the YMCA, Trustmark Bank (Christy Black) and from Edi Kelley (kelley_edith at yahoo.com) and Terry Beasley (251-363-1087).
All checks should be made payable to the American Cancer Society.
The entry fee is $20 for adults, $10 for children and $50 for families of four or more.
All proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society.
