WSNMS basketball teams lose season finales against McCall

It was a sour ending to the 2013 basketball season for the W.S. Neal Middle School boys and girls teams Tuesday as they ended their season with losses to the McCall Wolves.
The WSNMS boys lost 17-15 to McCall while the Lady Eagles lost 16-14. The boys ended their season with a 6-2 record while the girls finished 2-6.

McCall 17, WSNMS boys 15
The W.S. Neal Middle School boys basketball team saw their six-game winning streak come to a halt Tuesday at home as they lost to McCall 17-15 in their final game of the season.
Leading 15-9 heading into the fourth quarter, McCall shut out the Eagles of East Brewton in the final quarter while racking in eight points of their own to get the win by two. McCall ended the game on an 11-0 run over a span of the third and fourth quarters.
W.S. Neal led McCall 8-4 after the first quarter and 9-6 at the half.
In the third quarter, the Eagles opened the game on a 6-0 run to grab a 15-6 lead with 2:44 left in the third quarter.
That would be the final points of the game for W.S. Neal as McCall scored the final three points of the third quarter to cut the lead to 15-6. In the fourth, McCall outscored W.S. Neal 8-0 to get the win by two.
P. J. Lovelace led W.S. Neal with five points while Jacobey Hawthorne and Marvin Maddox both had three points each. Taylor Fountain and Steven Summerlin both chipped in two points each.
W.S. Neal shot 1-for-6 from the free throw line while McCall was 1-for-9.

McCall 16, W.S. Neal 14
McCall held W.S. Neal scoreless in the second and third quarters and used a 12-0 run over the two quarters to help propel them to a 16-14 win over the Lady Eagles of WSNMS.
W.S. Neal led McCall 8-0 early in the first quarter before holding a 10-2 advantage heading into the second quarter.
From there, W.S. Neal failed to score again until 2:03 left in the game as McCall outscored the Lady Eagles 6-0 in the second and third quarters.
W.S. Neal led 10-8 at the half but trailed 14-10 heading into the fourth quarter.
In the fourth, W.S. Neal used a late rally to outscore McCall 4-2, but the Lady Wolves earned the 16-14 win.
W.S. Neal was 0-for-6 from the free throw line while McCall was 0-for-2.
Marisha Fraser led with eight points, Janiyah McCants had four points, and Dominique Jackson had two points.
