TRM basketball falls hard to LeFlore in Jackson Christmas Tourney Friday

Coming off a pretty good outing at the Escambia County Tournament and posting records of 2-1 and finishing in second play, the T.R. Miller Lady and varsity Tigers came back down from that performance Friday in the DeMarquis Besteda Christmas Tournament in Jackson.
Facing off against the LeFlore Rattlers, the T.R. Miller Lady Tigers suffered a 71-16 loss while the varsity Tigers took a loss of 71-29.
With the losses, the Lady Tigers fell to 2-9 overall while the boys dropped their record to 4-5.

LeFlore 71, TRM Lady Tigers 16
The LeFlore Lady Rattlers scored 16 points in the first quarter to match T.R. Miller’s points for the entire games as they cruised their way to an easy 55-point win over the Lady Tigers by a score of 71-16.
LeFlore used a 6-0 run to start the game and a 10-0 run later in the first quarter to build a 16-2 lead after one quarter of play.
In the second quarter, LeFlore extended their run to 21-0 to build a 27-2 lead with 5:47 left before the half.
The Lady Rattlers would go on and outscore T.R. Miller 26-8 in the second quarter to build a 42-10 lead at the half.
In the third quarter, the Lady Tigers once again struggled on offense as they were held to only two points while LeFlore poured in 13 of their own to increase their lead to 55-12 heading into the fourth quarter.
In the fourth, LeFlore ended the game on a 16-4 run to get the win by 55 points.
LeFlore hit eight 3-pointers in the big win.
Leading the way for T.R. Miller in the loss was Mekiah Williams who had 12 of T.R. Miller’s 16 points. Destiny Washington and Teyana Smith had two points each in the loss.
T.R. Miller shot 8-for-12 from the free throw line while LeFlore was 9-for-15.

LeFlore 71, TRM varsity Tigers 29
Trailing by only eight points after one quarter of play, the LeFlore Rattlers used a big second and third quarter to put the game away and defeat the T.R. Miller varsity Tigers by 42 points, 71-29.
In the first quarter, the Tigers played LeFlore close as they only trailed by eight, 19-11, heading into the second quarter.
In the second quarter, LeFlore opened with an 8-0 run to take a 27-11 lead with 4:16 left before the half.
The Rattlers would use a 7-0 run to end the quarter and outscored T.R. Miller 21-6 in the frame to grab a 40-17 lead at the half.
In the third quarter LeFlore opened the second half with a 20-0 run to build a 60-17 lead with 2:01 left in the quarter.
The Rattlers would hold T.R. Miller to only five points in the third quarter while pouring in 24 of their own to increase their lead to 64-22 heading into the fourth quarter.
In the fourth, both teams scored seven points each as the Tigers were dealt the loss by 42 points.
The varsity Tigers of T.R. Miller had seven players score in the loss with Chardian Johnson leading the way with nine points. Tamerick Jenkins finished with five points while Shawn Tolbert and Trae Walker both had four points each. Caden Lodge added three points while Dominique Jackson and Jalen Jones both had two points each in the defeat.
T.R. Miller shot 4-for-9 from the free throw line while LeFlore was 12-for-24.
