WSN basketball teams drop second games of Red Level Christmas Tournament Friday

In the second day of the 16th annual Red Level Christmas Tournament Friday for the W.S. Neal Lady and varsity Eagles, the two teams suffered losses.
The Lady Eagles took a 31-26 loss to the Opp Bobcats to drop to 2-9 overall this season. In the varsity boys game, W.S. Neal lost to Georgiana 71-55 to fall to 3-8 this season.

Opp 31, WSN Lady Eagles 26
One day after coming off a win in the first day of tournament play, the Lady Eagles of East Brewton dropped a four-point loss to Opp.
KeKe Floyd led W.S. Neal in the loss with seven points while Khadidra Lawson added six points.
No other scorers or game information was known as of press time.

Georgiana 71, WSN varsity Eagles 55
Facing off against the No. 8-ranked team in class 1A Friday in the Red Level tournament, the W.S. Neal varsity Eagles lost to Georgiana 71-55.
Georgiana led W.S. Neal 18-9 after one quarter and 30-22 at the half after W.S. Neal held a 13-12 scoring advantage in the second quarter.
Trailing by eight points at the half, W.S. Neal was outscored 22-14 in the third quarter to fall behind by 16 points heading into the fourth quarter, 52-36.
In the fourth quarter, both teams scored 19 points each as W.S. Neal took the loss by 16.
“We had nine players that were able to score for us and that is a good thing for the team and the players,” W.S. Neal head coach Anthony Hayes said. “We never laid down against a very good and aggressive Georgiana team. We will continue to work hard on Neal as a team. Georgiana shot 40 free throws for the game and that’s too many. It was a great team effort.”
Malik Jones led W.S. Neal in scoring with 12 points in the loss. Jones was 7-for-10 from the free throw line.
D.J. Hodges added eight points and Tyshawn Davis had seven points while shooting 1-for-2 from the free throw line. Dalton Shell and J.T. Lane both scored six points each. Treylon Watson added five points and Trevor Burns had four. Burns shot 2-for-2 from the free throw line. Malcolm Hawthorne added four points and Mike Williams added three while shooting 1-for-3 from the free throw line.
