TRM teams take losses Friday at Cottage Hill

In their first games of 2014 Friday at Cottage Hill in Mobile, all three T.R. Miller basketball teams took losses to the Warriors.
The B-team Tigers, playing in their first game since Dec.16, saw their four-game winning streak come to an end with a 52-25 loss. The loss dropped the Tigers to 4-2 this season.
In girls action Friday, T.R. Miller lost 40-25 to fall to 2-11 overall this season and 0-2 in area play.
In varsity boys action, T.R. Miller lost 77-55 to see their overall record drop to 4-7 and their area record go to 1-1.
T.R. Miller is scheduled to travel to W.S. Neal Tuesday for an area game and will play at Bayside Academy Friday in another area game.
Both games are set to begin at 4:30 p.m. with the B-teams taking the court first followed by the girls and the varsity boys.
T.R. Miller’s next home game will be Friday, Jan. 17, against Cottage Hill.

Cottage Hill 52, TRM B-team 25
Cottage Hill scored double-digits in every quarter and held T.R. Miller’s B-team to eight points or less in each quarter en route to a 52-25 win over the Tigers. The loss for the Tigers snapped their four-game winning streak.
In the first quarter, Cottage Hill raced out to a 15-3 lead and added 15 more points in the second quarter while holding T.R. Miller to only six points to grab a 30-9 lead at the half.
In the third quarter, T.R. Miller was outscored 11-8 to trail 41-17 heading into the fourth. In the fourth, Cottage Hill once again outscored T.R. Miller 11-8 to grab the 27-point win.
Ahmaud Taylor led the Tigers with 10 points in the loss while Brooks Brown added six points. Joshua Jolly added five points while Austin Holmes chipped in four points in the loss.

Cottage Hill 40, TRM Lady Tigers 25
The T.R. Miller Lady Tigers suffered their second area loss and their four straight loss overall Friday as they took a 40-25 defeat from Cottage Hill.
Steely Ruzic led the Lady Tigers with nine points. Destiny Washington and Mekiah Williams both chipped in six points each while Star Drakeford finished with four points in the loss.
In the loss Friday, Cottage Hill raced out to a 12-5 lead over the Lady Tigers after one quarter of play. In the second quarter, both teams scored eight points each as Cottage Hill held a 20-13 over the Lady Tigers at halftime.
In the third quarter, Cottage Hill outscored the Lady Tigers 13-4 to extend their lead to 33-17 heading into the fourth quarter.
In the fourth, T.R. Miller edged out Cottage Hill 8-7, but took the loss by 15 points.

Cottage Hill 77, TRM varsity boys 55
The T.R. Miller varsity boys basketball team suffered their first area loss of the season and their fourth straight Friday as they took a 22-point loss to Cottage Hill by a score of 77-55.
In the first quarter, Cottage Hill led T.R. Miller 17-12. In the second quarter, Cottage Hill outscored T.R. Miller 13-11 to hold a 30-23 lead at the half.
In the third quarter, the Warriors of CHCA held a 26-12 scoring advantage over the Tigers to grab a 56-35 lead heading into the fourth quarter. In the fourth, Cottage Hill edged out T.R. Miller 21-20.
Despite the loss by 22 points, T.R. Miller had two players in double figures as Dominique Jackson led the way with 17 points and Chardian Johnson finished with 16 points.
Trae Walker added seven points while Caden Lodge, Jalen Jones and Shawn Tolbert all had four points each in the loss.
