WSN B-team gets win at Flomaton Friday, girls and varsity boys fall

The W.S. Neal Eagles basketball teams took the court Friday in Flomaton and the B-team was the lone team to come away with a win.
The Eagles of East Brewton earned their first win of the season as they downed Flomaton 29-24 to improve to 1-7 this season.
The Lady Eagles lost 35-28 to fall to 2-11 this season. In the varsity boys game, W.S. Neal took a 57-47 loss to drop to 3-11 this season.
W.S. Neal will host T.R. Miller Tuesday at home (W.S. Neal Middle School) with games scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m. with the B-teams playing each other. The varsity girls will follow the B-team game while the varsity boys will play the final game of the night.
Following the game with T.R. Miller on Tuesday, W.S. Neal will travel to Cottage Hill Friday for an area contest.

WSN B-team 29, Flomaton 24
The W.S. Neal Eagle B-team outscored Flomaton 25-12 in the second half to overcome a nine-point deficit after the first half to seal their first win of the season Friday over Flomaton by a score of 29-24.
W.S. Neal trailed Flomaton 11-2 after one quarter of play and 13-4 at the half after both teams only scored two points each in the second quarter.
Down by nine at the half, W.S. Neal outscored Flomaton 12-5 in the third quarter to cut their deficit to two points, 18-16, heading into the fourth quarter.
Down by two points, W.S. Neal ended the game on a 13-6 run to get the win by five points.
Peyton Salter led W.S. Neal with eight points while Tray-D Jones added seven. Keaton Yuhasz added six points while Juan Jiminez and Darius Tolbert both chipped in three points each. Matt Brown finished with two points in the win for the Eagles of East Brewton.

Flomaton 35, WSN Lady Eagles 28
A 16-4 scoring advantage in the fourth quarter for Flomaton turned a five-point W.S. Neal lead into a seven-point loss Friday in Flomaton as the Lady Hurricanes edged out W.S. Neal 35-28.
After falling behind early to Flomaton by a score of 7-1 in the first quarter, W.S. Neal took a 14-11 lead at the halftime break after they outscored Flomaton 13-4 in the second quarter.
Leading by three points at the halftime break, W.S. Neal increased their lead to five points as they outscored Flomaton 10-8 in the third quarter to hold a 24-19 heading into the final quarter of play.
In the fourth, Flomaton put together a 16-4 run to claim the seven-point win.
KeKe Floyd led the Lady Eagles in the loss with 15 points. Mariah Davis added six points and Jasmine Crook had five. Taylor Burns chipped in two points in the loss.

Flomaton 57, WSN varsity boys 47
Despite 17 points from Trevor Burns and eight other Eagles scoring, the W.S. Neal varsity Eagles took a 57-47 loss to Flomaton Friday night.
In the game Friday, W.S. Neal trailed Flomaton 8-5 after the first quarter. The second quarter proved to be the difference in the game as Flomaton outscored W.S. Neal 17-8 in the quarter to extend their lead to 25-13 at the halftime break.
In the third quarter, W.S. Neal outscored Flomaton 15-14 to cut the lead to 39-28 heading into the fourth. In the fourth, W.S. Neal once again edged out Flomaton by one point, 19-18, but took the loss by 10 points.
Joining Burns’ 17 points in the loss, Malcolm Hawthorne had six points and TyShawn Davis had five points.
Kenny Walker, Treylon Watson, and Mike Williams all had four points each. D.J. Hodges chipped in three points while Dalton Shell and J.T. Lane had two points each.
