TRM Lady Tigers get first area win of season Friday at Bayside while B-team and varsity fall

The T.R. Miller Lady Tigers picked up their first area win of the season Friday at Bayside Academy while the varsity Tigers took their sixth straight loss and the B-team Tigers also dropped their contest.
The Lady Tigers improved to 3-12 overall and to 1-3 in area play with a 39-35 win over the Lady Admirals.
T.R. Miller’s B-team suffered a 26-20 loss to fall to 5-3 this season while the varsity Tigers lost 43-40. The loss for the varsity boys dropped their overall record to 4-9 and to 1-3 in area play.
T.R. Miller was scheduled to play at Monroe County Monday night in a non-area game. All three T.R. Miller teams will be back in action Friday at home against Cottage Hill.
Game time is set for 4:30 p.m. for the B-team followed by the Lady Tigers and the varsity Tigers. The game will be an area game for T.R. Miller.

TRM Lady Tigers 39, BA 35
Mekiah Williams finished with 16 points and Steely Ruzic added 15 as the T.R. Miller Lady Tigers took down Bayside Academy 39-35 for their first area win this season.
Along with Williams and Ruzic, Destiny Washington added four points while Mykayla Harrison and Akilah Brazile both added two points each.
The Lady Tigers of T.R. Miller led Bayside Academy 11-7 after one quarter of play, but saw their lead get cut to two points at the halftime break as they were outscored 7-5 in the second quarter to lead 16-14 at the half.
In the third quarter, both teams scored five points each, as the Lady Tigers were able to carry a 21-19 lead into the final quarter of play.
In the fourth, after both teams combined to score 34, T.R. Miller edged out Bayside Academy 18-16 to get the win by four points.

BA 26, TRM B-team 20
Down 22-20, T.R. Miller missed a game-tying lay up on a fast break and Bayside hit four free throws down the stretch to come away with a six-point win over the Tigers by a score of 26-20.
T.R. Miller’s B-team led Bayside Academy 7-3 after one quarter and 9-7 at the half, despite being outscored 4-2 in the second quarter.
Leading by two points at the halftime break, the Admirals came out in the third quarter and took control of the game with a 9-4 scoring advantage. The five-point advantage in the third quarter gave the Admirals a 16-13 lead over the Tigers.
In the fourth quarter, Bayside ended the game on a 10-7 run and held off the Tigers with four straight free throws down the stretch to seal the win by six points.
Ahmaud Taylor led the Tigers with seven points while Joshua Jolly had six points. Markail Mitchell finished with three points. Michael Campbell and Austin Holmes both added two points each in the loss.

BA 43, TRM varsity Tigers 40
The T.R. Miller Tigers rallied late Friday against Bayside Academy, but took a 43-40 loss for their sixth straight loss of the season.
“We were down by 11 points with 1:48 left in the game and we then cut it to three points with 8.1 seconds left in the game,” Tiger head coach Juan Johnson said. “We got two looks, but just couldn’t know them down.”
Chardian Johnson led the Tigers with 17 points and Trae Walker added 11. Dominique Jackson finished with six points, Kellyn Winn added five, and Caden Lodge chipped in one point.
The Admirals of Bayside Academy led T.R. Miller 9-7 after one quarter of play and 22-14 at the half following a 13-7 run in the second quarter.
T.R. Miller cut into Bayside’s lead in the third quarter with a 13-10 run to trail 32-27 heading into the fourth quarter.
In the fourth, T.R. Miller once again outscored the Admirals—13-11—but could not score late as they took the loss by three points.
The Tigers shot 15-for-19 from the free throw line in the loss.
