TRM’s Karisa Nelson honored by Alabama Media Group/Mobile Sports Hall of Fame at Fall High School Sports Awards Banquet

Five athletes and four coaches were honored Thursday afternoon at the Alabama Media Group/Mobile Sports Hall of Fame Fall High School Sports Awards Banquet and T.R. Miller’s Karisa Nelson was one of them. Nelson was named the 2013 Coastal Alabama Girls Cross Country Runner of the Year by the Press-Register.
The event, hosted by the Alabama Media Group and the Mobile Sports Hall of Fame, took place at Hank Aaron Stadium.
Winners of each of the Press-Register and AL.com’s top fall awards were present along with their families and coaches.
This year’s winners were:
Football: McGill-Toolen’s Ito Smith, Offensive Player of the Year; St. Paul’s Tre Williams, Defensive Player of the Year; Spanish Fort’s Mark Freeman, Coach of the Year.
Volleyball: St. Paul’s Shelley Spires, Player of the Year; St. Luke’s Tammy Richardson, Coach of the Year.
Cross Country: UMS-Wright’s Robert Hope, Male Runner of the Year; T.R. Miller’s Karisa Nelson, Female Runner of the Year; Spanish Fort’s Michael Rauch, Boys Coach of the Year; UMS-Wright’s Pat Galle, Girls Coach of the Year.
Peter Albrecht and Scott Hunter spoke at the event on behalf of the Hall of Fame.
