Mr. Dick Jernigan, 87, of Lakeview Circle in Brewton, died Friday, Jan. 17, 2014 in a Pensacola, Fla., health care facility after a brief illness.
He was a native and lifelong resident of Escambia County and was a retired lineman with Alabama Power Company. He was a veteran of World War II, having served with the U.S. Army, and was a member of Catawba Springs Baptist Church, the American Legion as well as the National Rifle Association.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Mary Margaret Jernigan.
He is survived by two sons, Michael D. (Joellen) Jernigan of Denver, Colo. And Hampton L. Jernigan of Brewton; one daughter, Karen Sherer of Brewton; and one brother, Jake (Adelaide) Jernigan of Brewton; two grandchildren, Laurel Lee Sherer of Pensacola and Emily Anna Sherer of Brewton.
Visitation was held on Monday, Jan. 20, 2014, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Craver’s Funeral Home of Brewton.
Funeral services were scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2014, at 2:30 p.m. from the chapel of Craver’s Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jeff Edwards officiating. Burial followed in Catawba Springs Cemetery, with Craver’s Funeral Home directing.
