JDCC basketball remains winless in conference play

The Jefferson Davis Community College Warhawk basketball team collapsed in the second half Tuesday night at home to come away with a 98-79 conference loss to Chattahoochee Valley. The loss dropped the Warhawks to 2-9 overall and to 0-3 in conference play.
“Played our best all year for the first 30 minutes,” JDCC head coach Allen Gainer said. “We fell apart in the last 10 minutes and played just about our worst.”
Leading by two points at the half, 39-37, the Warhawks were outscored 61-40 in the second half to suffer the 19-point loss.
Chris Oden led the Warhawks in the loss with 28 points. Oden was followed by Christian Jones’ 19. Mikwese Claybourne also finished in double figures as he added 10 points in the loss.
Anthony Bell chipped in six points and JaQuan Threatt added five points. Michael Hutchins added four points while Ty Hairston finished with three. Darren Wilson and Keaynon Gulley both added two points each in the loss for the Warhawks.
The Warhawks were 16-for-28 from the free throw line in the loss while CVCC shot 8-for-13.
JDCC will be back in action at home on Thursday night when they host Wallace-Selma. Game time is set for 7 p.m. in Brewton.
