TRM Lady Tigers get area win over BA while varsity loses ninth straight game; TRM B-team also loses

In their final area games of the season Tuesday night at home against the Bayside Academy Admirals, the T.R. Miller girls and boys came away with a split while the B-team took a loss.
The Tiger B-team blew a lead in the fourth quarter to take a 24-20 loss to fall to 6-5 overall.
The T.R. Miller Lady Tigers cruised their way to a 47-25 win over the Lady Admirals to improve to 4-14 overall and finished 2-4 in area play.
In varsity play, the Tigers lost 59-41 to fall to 4-12 overall and finish 1-5 in area play. The loss for the Tigers was their ninth straight loss.
All three T.R. Miller teams will be back in action at home on Monday against Andalusia. Game time against the Bulldogs is set for 4:30 p.m. in Brewton.

BA 24, TRM B-team 20
Leading 12-4 at halftime, the T.R. Miller B-team was outscored 20-8 in the second half to drop a 24-20 decision Tuesday night at home against Bayside Academy.
T.R. Miller led Bayside 8-4 after the first quarter and used a 4-0 run in the second quarter to grab a 12-4 lead at the half.
In the third quarter, the Tigers were held to only one point while the Admirals used a 7-0 run to cut the lead to 13-11 heading into the fourth quarter.
In the fourth, Bayside increased their run to 12-0 to build a 16-13 lead. With the game tied at 17-all with 1:50 left in the game, the Admirals outscored T.R. Miller 7-3 to end the game to get the four-point win.
Ahmaud Taylor led T.R. Miller with seven points while Austin Holmes chipped in six.
Brooks Brown added three points while Hayden Atkinson and Markail Mitchell both had two points each. Joshua Jolly finished with one point in the loss.
The Tigers were 2-for-8 from the free throw line in the loss while Bayside Academy was 9-for-19.

TRM Lady Tigers 47, BA 25
The T.R. Miller Lady Tigers benefited from runs of 7-0 and 16-0 and got 25 points from Mekiah Williams Tuesday night against Bayside Academy to come away with a 47-25 area win over the Lady Admirals.
Down 2-0 to start the game, the Lady Tigers used a 7-0 run in the first quarter to build a 7-2 at the 4:03 mark.
The Lady Tigers would lead 14-3 after the end of the first quarter. In the second quarter, leading 14-5, T.R. Miller went on a 14-0 run to outscore Bayside Academy 14-2 in the quarter to hold a 28-5 lead at the halftime break.
T.R. Miller increased their run to 16-0 in the third quarter, but both teams scored 15 points each in the quarter to give T.R. Miller a 43-20 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
In the fourth, Bayside edged out the Lady Tigers 5-4, but T.R. Miller was able to get the area win by 22 points.
Along with Williams’ 25 points, Star Drakeford finished with 10 and Morgan Longmire added nine points. MyKayla Harrison finished with two points and Akilah Brazile added one.
T.R. Miller was 3-for-8 from the free throw line while Bayside shot 8-for-16.

BA 59, TRM varsity boys 41
The T.R. Miller varsity Tigers saw their losing streak increase to nine straight losses Tuesday as they dropped a 59-41 area loss to Bayside Academy.
The two teams played an even first half as the Tigers and the Admirals were tied at 9-all after one quarter of play.
In the second quarter, Bayside Academy held a 17-12 scoring advantage over the Tigers to grab a 26-21 lead at the half.
In the third quarter, Bayside used a 16-7 run to build a 42-28 lead over the Tigers heading into the fourth quarter.
In the fourth, the Admirals went 5-for-13 from the free throw line to end the game on a 17-13 run to get the 18-point win.
Dominique Jackson led the Tigers in the loss with 15 points and Chardian Johnson added nine.
Kellyn Winn scored seven points and Trae Walker added four. Jalen Jones finished with three points, Caden Lodge added two points and Michael Woods chipped in one point in the loss.
The Tigers shot 12-for-26 from the free throw line in the loss while Bayside was 10-for-18.
