With freezing rain moving into the Brewton area Tuesday morning, the main danger remains the potential for ice accumulation on roads.
Emergency officials say ice accumulation totals are now predicted to be higher than expected, as high as .35 to .5 inches.
Main impacts of the precipitation, according to emergency management officials in adjacent Covington County:

• Most of the freezing rain falls along the coastal areas in less than nine hours. It starts quick, accrues rapidly and ends with a changeover to light snow for a brief while in the evening.

• Roads will quickly become treacherous and life threatening very soon after the freezing rain begins

• Trees and power lines will be downed under the weight of nearly a half inch of ice in some areas by afternoon

• Snow is still expected later today and into Tuesday evening, with the potential for 1 to 2 inches of accumulation.
