JDCC baseball falls to MGCCC 17-16 in 11 innings

In a wild game Tuesday at Mississippi Gulf Coast—a game that saw the Jefferson Davis Community College Warhawk baseball team fall behind early, but rally late—eventually saw JDCC lose 17-16 in 11 innings. With the loss, JDCC dropped to 2-6 overall with their third straight loss.
In the game Tuesday, MGCCC scored eight runs in the first inning to build an early 8-0 lead. MCGCC added two more runs in the second inning to build a 10-0 lead before JDCC added one of their own in the top of the fourth.
Down 10-1 after the top of the fifth, MCGCC added three in the bottom of the inning to increase their lead to 13-1. In the sixth inning, both teams scored three runs each as MCGCC took a 16-4 lead into the sixth inning.
In the top of the seventh, JDCC added six runs to cut the lead to 16-10 and followed with two runs in the eighth and four in the ninth to tie the game at 16-all to force extra innings.
After both teams failed to score in the 10th inning, MGCCC added one in the bottom of the 11th to get the win by one run.
JDCC had 19 hits in the loss while MGCCC finished with 20.
No other stats or information from the game with MGCCC was known as of press time.
The Warhawks were scheduled to play at East Central Friday. The game is scheduled for a 9 and 7-inning doubleheader.
JDCC will begin conference play on Tuesday, Feb. 25, when they travel to Faulkner State. The Warhawks will return home on Saturday, March 1, when they host Bishop State. Game time is set for noon in Brewton and will be a conference doubleheader.
