WSN JV baseball starts year with loss at Opp

In their 2014 season opener Thursday on the road in Opp, W.S. Neal’s JV baseball team started the season 0-1 after falling hard to the Bobcats by a score of 14-3.
Leading 2-0 after the top of the first inning, W.S. Neal fell to six Opp runs in the bottom of the inning, two more in the third and six in the fourth to take the loss by 11. W.S. Neal’s lone other run came in the third inning.
Patrick Glass took the loss on the mound for W.S. Neal as he allowed three hits, six runs, five earned, walked none and struck out one.
Brandon Moye and Rob Jones also pitched in the loss. Moye allowed four hits, two runs, both earned, walked and struck out one.
Jones allowed six hits, six runs, one earned, walked and struck out one.
W.S. Neal had only four hits in the loss and made five errors while Opp committed only one.
At the plate for W.S. Neal, Jones and Conner Huskey had one hit each while Sam Frazier had two.
Jones had one RBI while Alex O’Keane added two. Jones’ hit was a double.
The JV Eagles will be back in action Tuesday, March 4 at home against Atmore at 4 p.m.
