Tyler Joyner pitched a complete game one-hitter and struck out 12 Flomaton Hurricanes to help lead W.S. Neal to a 5-0 win and improve to 6-1 this season Monday night at home.
Joyner went seven innings on the mound and allowed one hit, no runs, walked four, hit one and struck out 12 in the five-run win for the Eagles.
While Joyner helped the Eagles of East Brewton keep Flomaton off the scoreboard, W.S. Neal scored two runs in the second inning and three in the sixth inning to get the win.
Derrick Barton helped W.S. Neal get on the board in the second inning as he laced a triple down the third base line that scored Jared Cooper who singled earlier in the inning. Cooper’s run gave W.S. Neal a 1-0 lead. Barton would later steal home to put W.S. Neal up 2-0.
While neither team scored over the span of the next three innings, Taylor Elliott helped W.S. Neal get some insurance runs in the sixth inning as he hit a two-run double to score Dakota Graves and Malcolm Hawthorne to put W.S. Neal up 4-0. Joyner would later hit a sacrifice fly to score Elliott for the final run of the game.
At the plate for W.S. Neal, Elliott had a double and two RBIs while Joyner had the one RBI.
Cooper had two singles and Barton had a triple and one RBI. Graves added a single in the win.

WSN JV 6, Flomaton 4
Things did not start well for the W.S. Neal JV team, but the Eagles still came away with a 6-4 win over Flomaton Monday afternoon. The win for W.S. Neal improved the Eagles to 3-1 this season.
Flomaton struck early against W.S. Neal with three quick runs to grab a 3-0 lead.
From there, W.S. Neal held Flomaton to one run in the second inning while added two runs of their own in the bottom of the first, one each in the second and third inning, and two more in the fourth to get the two-run win.
Jacoby Hawthorne earned the win on the mound in relief while Colton Morris took the save.
Alex O’Keane started the game and failed to get an out while allowing two walks and three runs.
Patrick Glass relieved O’Keane in the first inning and went two innings and allowed no hits, one run, walked two, hit two and struck out five.
Hawthorne went two innings and allowed one hit, no runs, walked one and struck out two.
Morris went the final inning and struck out three.
At the plate, Hawthorne and Dalton Shell had two singles each for W.S. Neal’s only hits of the game.
