TRM JV softball goes 2-1 in Thomasville tourney

In their first games of the season Saturday in a tournament in Thomasville, T.R. Miller softball’s JV team went 2-1 to start the year.
The Lady Tigers went 2-0 in pool play before suffering a loss in the single elimination part of the tournament.
T.R. Miller opened with a 6-0 win over Sweet Water before edging out Clarke County 5-4.
In the single elimination, T.R. Miller suffered a 5-3 loss to Clarke County to be eliminated.
Clarke County, who went 0-2 in pool play, went on to be Thomasville in the tournament finals to win the tourney championship.

TRM 6, SW 0
T.R. Miller blanked Sweet Water 6-0 in the tournament opener Saturday morning.
Taylor Austin pitched a two-hitter for the Lady Tigers in the win. Austin went four innings and allowed no runs, walked two and struck out three.
At the plate, Grace Ruzic was 1-for-2 with one RBI and Caitlyn Smith was 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Steely Ruzic went 3-for-3 while Austin was 2-for-2 with one RBI. Morgan Longmire added two RBIs in the win.

TRM 5, CC 4
In their first meeting with Clarke County, T.R. Miller edged out the Lady Bulldogs 5-4.
Austin went five innings in the circle to get the pitching win as she allowed six hits, four runs, three earned, walked two and struck out none.
Brittain went 1-for-2 at the plate while Mary Madison Brown went 1-for-1 with one RBI. Mallori Floyd had one RBI and Hannah Lisenby was 1-for-2 with one RBI. Austin was 1-for-2 with a triple.

CC 5, TRM 3
In their second meeting with Clarke County, T.R. Miller was held to one hit and took a 5-3 loss to be eliminated.
Floyd went 1-for-3 with one RBI for T.R. Miller’s lone hit. Austin took the pitching loss as she went five innings and allowed eight hits, five runs, two earned, walked two and struck out three.
