WSN softball gets back to action and gets area win over Bayside Academy

W.S. Neal Lady Eagle softball player Haleigh Dubose pitched a complete game two-hitter and struck out 13 while walking two Wednesday afternoon to give W.S. Neal a 3-0 area win over the Bayside Academy Lady Admirals. W.S. Neal’s win improved the Lady Eagles to 9-4 overall and started them 1-0 in area play.
The two teams played to a scoreless tie through two innings of play Wednesday before W.S. Neal got on the board in the third inning to take a 1-0 lead.
After Bayside Academy left the bases loaded in the top of the sixth inning, W.S. Neal plated two insurance runs in the bottom of the inning to grab a 3-0 lead.
Dubose held Bayside Academy off the bases in the seventh as W.S. Neal grabbed the 3-run win.
At the plate for the Lady Eagles, KeKe Floyd and Tori Wyatt both had a single each while Dubose had two singles. Karissa Johnson added one RBI while Christina Robinson and Jasmine Crook had a single each.
Adria Barnett led the Lady Eagles at the plate with a double and a single.
The game was originally scheduled for Tuesday, but postponed due to weather conditions.
The game was W.S. Neal’s first game since playing in the TRM Invitational on Saturday, March 1. All prior games to Wednesday have had to be postponed due to weather conditions.
