WSN baseball takes down UMS-Wright in extra innings

In a battle of top-10 baseball teams Friday night in Mobile, the No. 8-ranked team in class 3A, the W.S. Neal Eagles, down class 4A’s No. 4-ranked team UMS-Wright 3-1 in nine innings.
UMS-Wright led W.S. Neal 1-0 after one inning, but the Eagles scored three unanswered to get the win.
W.S. Neal plated one run in the third inning to tie the game up at 1-all. Neither team scored in the regulation seven innings and the game went extra innings.
After a scoreless eighth inning for both teams, W.S. Neal plated two runs in the top of the ninth and held UMS-Wright scoreless in the bottom of the inning to get the win by two runs.
At the plate for W.S. Neal, Malcolm Hawthorne had one RBI while Brandon Carmichael had a double. Dakota Graves added a single while Michael Williams had two singles and one RBI in the win for the Eagles of East Brewton.
W.S. Neal improved to 8-1 overall with the win.
