Local post offices hours to change

Got mail?

If so, take note – starting April 1, hours at the Brewton and East Brewton post offices will change.

Postmaster Tim Clark said Tuesday that the change, which will be on a 60-day trial basis, will give residents more options to visit the post offices.

“Right now, in Brewton, the window is open from 9 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.,” he said. “That’s going to change to 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on April 1. I think that business people and people who get off at 4:30 and need to go to the post office will like it.”

Clark said the change is temporary and is designed to gain pubic reaction.

“It was something that was done because the mail is arriving an hour to two hours later than usual these days,” Clark said.

In East Brewton, the post office will open and close 30 minutes earlier, changing the hours of operation to 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. Monday through Friday. The post office will remain closed on Saturday and Sunday.
