WSN baseball squeezes out win over Kinston Monday in Opp

Brandon Carmichael executed a squeeze bunt to score Mike Williams from third base in the top of the seventh inning Monday to give W.S. Neal a 2-1 win over Kinston in the Opp Spring Break Tournament.
The win over Kinston gave W.S. Neal their seventh straight win as they improved to 12-1 this season.
Both teams scored one run each in the first inning and failed to score over the next five innings. Carmichael’s RBI in the top of the seventh gave W.S. Neal a one-run lead and the held Kinston scoreless in the bottom of the inning to get the win.
In the seventh inning, after a leadoff out by Cooper, Williams singled along with Dakota Graves. Carmichael’s sacrifice squeeze provided the game-winning run.
Jared Cooper earned the win on the mound for the Eagles of East Brewton as he went seven innings and allowed three hits, one earned run, walked three and struck out nine.
At the plate, Malcolm Hawthorne had a single along with Taylor Elliott who had one RBI. Williams and Graves had a single each along with Robin Swift while Carmichael had an RBI sacrifice bunt for the game-winning run.
