Thursday’s youth sports games in EB: Brewton Thunder softball, East Brewton Cubs, Iron Birds and Brewton Red Sox all pick up wins

In youth baseball and softball games played Thursday in East Brewton, the Brewton Thunder softball team, the East Brewton Cubs, Iron Birds and Brewton Red Sox all picked up wins.
The Thunder downed the East Brewton Giants 14-11 while the Cubs took down the Mariners 5-2.
The East Brewton Iron Birds earned a 4-1 win over the Hot Rods while the Brewton Red Sox claimed a 9-5 win over the East Brewton Mets in the 11-12 league.

Brewton Thunder 14, EB Giants 11
The Thunder rolled with nine runs in the third inning to edge out the Giants 14-11 Thursday.
The Thunder scored four runs in the first inning, nine in the third and added one in the fourth while holding the Giants to four runs each in the first and fourth innings, one in the second and two in the third.
For the Thunder at the plate, Tremer had one hit while Tiffany Reiss had two singles. Khadejah Askew added a single in the win for the Thunder.
For the Giants, Hartsel had a single along with Tatum Reeves.
Madison Tremer pitched for the Thunder while Caitlin Hartsel and Taylor Peters pitched for the Giants.

EB Cubs 5, EB Mariners 2
In a rainout game from Monday, the Cubs edged out the Mariners 5-2.
The Cubs held the Mariners to one run each in the second and third inning while scoring two runs of their own in the second and three in the third.
For the Cubs, Jordan Tolin had a single while Tyler Brooks had two singles. Turk Morton pitched in the win.
For the Mariners, Jordan Sims had a single while Walker Hoomes had a double.
Jordan Crane, Hoomes and Sims pitched in the loss for the Mariners.

Iron Birds 4, Hot Rods 1
The Iron Birds soared Thursday night for a 4-1 win over the Hot Rods.
The Iron Birds scored two runs each in the second and third innings while the Hot Rods’ lone run came in the fifth inning.
For the Iron Birds, Easton Grace had a double and Collin Nelson had a single along with John McCants.
Kegan (no last name provided) added two single while Jackson and Andy Haney had one single each in the win.
For the Hot Rods, Warren Cain had a single along with Jakari Paul. Cohen Ziglar provided a double for the Hot Rods in the loss.

Brewton Red Sox 9, EB Mets 5
The Brewton Red Sox ventured over to R.T. Johnson Park in East Brewton Thursday and came back to Brewton with a 9-5 win.
The Red Sox led the Mets 2-1 after one inning of play before erupting in the third inning to plate five runs to grab a 7-1 lead.
The Mets added one runs in the bottom of the inning to cut the lead to 7-2. After a scoreless fourth inning for both teams, the Red Sox added two in the fifth to grab a 9-2 lead. The Mets added three in the bottom of the inning to cut the lead to 9-5, but failed to get any closer.
In the win for the Red Sox, Whitley Lisenby added a single along with Landon Sims.
Wynn Brittain added a double and J.D. Hart had a double. McGowin Bethea chipped in a single in the win for Brewton. Lisenby, Sims and Stone Martin pitched in the win for the Red Sox and pitched a one-hitter.
For the Mets, Caleb Sexton had a double in the third inning for the lone hit of the game for.
Sexton and Isaac Smith pitched in the loss for the Mets.
No other stats or information from any other games in Brewton and East Brewton were known as of press time.
