JDCC softball splits in Monroeville

The Jefferson Davis Community College Lady Warhawk softball team earned a split Thursday in Monroeville as they defeated Alabama Southern in game one but lost game two.
The Lady Warhawks lost game one 8-2, but won game two 14-12 in 10 innings. The split improved JDCC to 14-31 overall and to 4-4 in conference play.
In game one, Alabama Southern benefited from a seven-run fourth inning to defeat JDCC 8-2.
Kaitlin Hadaway and Jessica Swindle pitched in the loss with Hadaway being the pitcher of record. The duo went six innings and allowed 11 hits, eight runs, three earned, walked three and struck out four.
At the plate, Audrey Hamric had three hits and one RBI while Breanna Hall had two hits. Chelsey Ramer and Rachel Seitz had one hit each along with Caroline Clark. Ramer added one RBI in the loss. Hamric had a triple while Ramer had a homerun.
In game two, JDCC and Alabama Southern battled for 10 innings and the Lady Warhawks came out on top 14-12.
JDCC used a 7-run fourth inning to see the game get tied at 7-all after seven innings. After both teams failed to scored in the eighth inning, both teams scored three runs each in the ninth to see the game get tied at 10-all heading into 10th inning. In the 10th, JDCC outscored Alabama Southern 4-2 to get the two-run win.
Hall and Hadaway pitched in the win and combined to go 10 innings and allowed 16 hits, 12 runs, three earned, walked four and struck out three.
At the plate, Kaitlyn Kenfield had three hits and three RBIs while Laura Zeegers had a hit and three RBIs.
Mindy Walker added one hit and one RBI along with Hall while Ramer had two hits and three RBIs. Moriah Trujillo added two hits while Seitz had three hits and three RBIs.
Kenfield, Zeegers, Walker and Ramer all had doubles in the win.
