Track Tigers get another win in large home meet Saturday

The T.R. Miller girls and boys track teams bested 14 other teams Saturday in a home meet.
The Lady Tigers took first place out of 13 teams as they scored 249 points. The boys team took first place over 14 teams as they scored 159 points.
In the girls meet, T.R. Miller defeated second place Bayside Academy by 143 points. Bayside scored 106 points followed by Carver Montgomery’s 60 points, Foley’s 55, Jeff Davis’ 47, Opp’s 41 and Demopolis’ 39.
Hillcrest-Evergreen took eighth place with 32 points followed by Catholic-Montgomery’s 21, Greenville’s 14, W.S. Neal’s 8, McIntosh’s 3 and Escambia County’s 2.
In the boys meet, T.R. Miller defeated second place Hillcrest by 57 points. The Jaguars scored 102 points followed by Foley with 63 points, Greenville with 53, Demopolis with 49, Bayside Academy with 46, Catholic-Montgomery with 45, Opp with 38, Satsuma with 35, W.S. Neal with 23, Escambia County with 20, Carver Montgomery with 17, Florala with 9 and McIntosh with 2.
T.R. Miller’s girls scored first place with eight events while the boys took first in seven of the 18 events.
For the girls, Karisa Nelson took first place for T.R. Miller in the 800-meter, the 1600-meter, and the 3200-meter. Makayla Harrison took first in the 100-meter hurdles and Majestie Walker was first in the 300-meter hurdles.
T.R. Miller’s 4×800-meter relay team claimed first while Amber Terry was first in the pole vault event. Harrison also took first place in the triple jump event.
In the boys meet, Ahmaud Taylor claimed first place for T.R. Miller in the 110-meter hurdles while Tamerick Jenkins took first place in the 300-meter hurdles.
Taylor also took first place in the high jump event while Bailey Graves took first in the pole vault.
Kieon Smith led the Tigers in a first place finished in the boys triple jump while Jimmal Bloodsaw took first place in the discus.
Terry Samuel won first in the javelin throw.
