FROM THE ATMORE ADVANCE

Alan Ash of Atmore finished among the top 150 finishers in the world, during Monday’s running of the 118th Boston Marathon.

Ash, 22, ran cross country at Vanderbilt and is currently a teacher at Jefferson Davis High School in Montgomery. Although he has only been running marathons for less than a year, he finished with the top Boston Marathon time for any runner from Alabama.

Ash’s dad, Allen Sr., taught school at Brewton Middle School and also has coached track and cross country at T.R. Miller.
