Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley declared a state of emergency for all Alabama counties at 7 tonight, Mon., April 28, as severe storms and tornado warnings continued to impact the state.

“Some of our communities have already experienced significant damage as a result of the tornadoes that began moving through Alabama earlier today ” Governor Robert Bentley said in a press release. “By issuing a State of Emergency, I am directing all state agencies to take necessary actions to respond to Alabama communities that need help.”

The Alabama Emergency Agency activated the State Emergency Operations Center in Clanton to a level two at 7 p.m., and Bentley authorized the mobilization of 100 Alabama National Guard members to be on stand-by and ready to assist communities if needed.

At least three people are reported dead this evening after a series of tornadoes and severe thunderstorms blew through the area starting at 5 p.m. Emergency crews are working to service areas throughout east Limestone County and northwest Madison County.
