With the Tombigbee River projected to be at 34-feet by Saturday and having been at 14-feet yesterday, the Alabama South Fishers of Men group is having to postpone the Coffeeville Legacy/High School Tournament set for Saturday May 3.
The tournament will be rescheduled.
“We feel the conditions caused by the high water are just too dangerous to try to have the tournament,” a league official said. “I also was told by one person familiar with the area that we would not be able to get to the landing anyway. As soon as we can figure out another date to hold this tournament we will post it on the FOM Alabama South website and we will also send out an e-mail to make everyone aware of the new date.
“We apologize if this causes anyone any inconvenience, but we feel this is the best thing to do for safety reasons.”
