LEANDRA GAYE GARNER CAMPBELL w/photo

Hoover

Leandra Gaye Garner Campbell, 51, passed away Tues., May 13, 2014.

She was born in Gadsden and graduated from T. R. Miller High School in Brewton and The University of Alabama. She was employed by Sherry and Co. for more than 24 years and was the vice president of operations at Accustaff and Estaff.

After a courageous six- year battle with cancer, she has left this world, but her spirit will be with us forever. Her passion was her family, and she found profound joy and comfort in being a daughter, a sister, a wife, a mother and an aunt. She combined grace, courage and realism as she fought her battle to be with us as long as possible. Anyone who came into contact with her soon realized that her beauty came from within. She held to a code of behavior that revolved around an inner core of honesty, kindness, loyalty, and a keen understanding of human nature.

To those who were lucky enough to be her friends knew that they had happened upon a true treasure. Her love and devotion to her husband, Eddie, and her three children, Tyler, Carlyn and Connor, can never be erased and it will enable them to embrace life and prosper as they journey forward.

In her work life, as in her family life, she always did her best. She was a beacon of strength, understanding and perseverance of perfection. She could always be counted on to never shy away from obstacles and hardships. She was a true inspirational force in her family and work life. No one will ever forget her joy at her son Tyler’s wedding; she was the gracious hostess, who laughed, danced and smiled. Daughter Caryln, who inherited her mother’s dimples, will always remember the care and guidance her mother gave as she developed into a sweet, caring, confident, young lady. And Connor, her youngest, Leandra adored going to all his sport games, whether he played brilliantly or had a misstep, she was always a loving and proud mother. Her remarkably bravery humbled everyone and just simply reinforced that we were indeed in the presence of rarity.

She is survived by her husband of 18 years, Eddie Campbell; three children, Tyler Duke (Piyanka Ghosal), Carlyn Campbell and Connor Campbell; her parents, Dale and Peggy Garner of Rainbow City; and three sisters, Kim (Mike) Morris of Chesapeake, Va., Cindy (Steve) Ballard of Samantha, Ala., and Jenni Garner of Roswell, Ga.

The family would like to thank Valerie Caterinicchia and Dr. Andres Forero.

A memorial service was held on Fri., May 16, at 11 a.m., at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Breast Cancer Research Foundation of Alabama, bcrfa.org.
