FOM fishes in Camden

Fishers of Men, Alabama South held what was to have been their fourth tournament of 2014, but was in fact our third recently as the April tournament that was to be in Camden was postponed due to flooding conditions.
The group fished out of Swift Creek on the Alabama River on Saturday, May 17.
The Friday night meeting was hosted by Crestview Baptist church in Prattville. The group had 25 at the meeting Friday night and 10 of the 12 teams fishing Saturday were represented at the meeting.
Although the water was muddy and at times moving swiftly, the fish seemed to not mind it too much as there were 51 fish brought to the scales that weighed in at 105.98 pounds. First place went to the team of Patrick Thrash and Robert McClaurin. They had five fish that weighed 13.33 pound and their limit was anchored with the big fish of the day that weighed in at 4.19 pounds. They caught their fish on jigs and spinner baits. The jigs were black and blue and the spinnerbait was chartreuse and white with a twin tail trailer. The big fish was caught on the spinner bait and it came on the third cast of the day. Second place went to the team of Glen Frasher and Steve Pierce. They had five fish that weighed in at 12.68 pound. They caught their fish on buzz baits and swimming jigs.
The group’s next tournament will be their first Legacy tournament of 2014 in Camden on William Dannelly reservoir. They will be having our meeting at Camden Baptist church Friday night June 6, with the tournament on Saturday June 7. The following weekend June 13-14, the group will be back in Camden for the makeup tournament in Camden.
Alabama South is hoping to have an open tournament later on in the year so keep checking out our schedule for it to have been added. If you are not on the group’s mailing list contact Allen Couch so he can add you and you will get updated information as we release it.
