Both the LSU Tigers and the Arkansas Razorbacks clinched their series Tuesday in Brewton as they defeated the ASU Sun Devils and the South Carolina Gamecocks respectively. But when the dust had settled Tuesday night at T.R. Miller, LSU had clinched another item: first place in the league standings.
In games Tuesday, LSU took down Arizona State 9-3 for the Tigers third straight win. The loss for ASU was their fourth straight as they fell to 2-8-1 overall. LSU moved to 7-4.
In the second game of the night, Arkansas took down South Carolina 7-2 to move to 6-5 overall with their fourth straight win while South Carolina fell to 6-4-1 with their third straight loss.
After Tuesday’s games, league standings showed LSU in first place followed by South Carolina, Arkansas, and Arizona State.

LSU Tigers 9, ASU Sun Devils 3
The LSU Tigers took over first place of Brewton’s Babe Ruth league standings Tuesday night as they captured a 9-3 win over the Arizona State Sun Devils.
After a scoreless first inning for both teams, LSU led ASU 3-0 after the second inning and 4-0 after the third inning. ASU cut LSU’s lead in half with two runs in the fourth inning, but LSU would added four more runs in the fifth inning and one in the sixth while holding ASU to one in the fifth as well to get the six-run win.
Lane Clark earned the pitching win on the mound for LSU as he went six innings and allowed seven hits, three runs, all earned, walked one and struck out eight.
Hunter Brittain and Andrew Etheridge pitched in the loss for ASU with Brittain taking the loss. Combined, the two pitchers went 5 1/3 innings and allowed eight hits, nine runs, seven earned, walked five and struck out eight.
At the plate for LSU in the win, Clark was 1-for-2 with one RBI and O’Neil White added two RBIs.
Connor Huskey went 1-for-3 and Brandon Moye was 1-for-3 with a double. Stokes Jennings went 2-for-4 with a double and a triple and one RBI while Kristian Taylor was 1-for-2 with a triple and one RBI.
Tyler Baxter added a hit and three RBIs while Joseph Blackburn was 1-for-3.
For Arizona State at the plate in the loss, Micah Flores, Matt Smith and Jordan Williams were all 1-for-3. Brittain was 1-for-2 and Russell Smith went 3-for-3 with a double and three RBIs.

Arkansas Razorbacks 7, South Carolina 2
Arkansas continued their recent winning streak while South Carolina continued to slip in the league’s standings as the Razorbacks earned a 7-2 win over the Gamecocks.
Arkansas held South Carolina to one run each in the third and fourth innings while plating four of their own in the first inning and one each in the third, four, and fifth innings to seal the five-run win.
Arkansas pitchers Drew Williamson and Matt Hutchins held South Carolina to one lone hit in the win as the duo combined to go five innings and allowed two runs, one earned, walked three and struck out six while hitting two batters. Williamson was credited with the win.
For South Carolina, Caleb Winton took the loss as he went five innings and allowed six hits, seven runs, three earned, walked six and struck out nine. Daniel Reed went 1-for-1 for South Carolina in the loss as he had the lone hit for the Gamecocks.
For Arkansas, Hutchins went 2-for-3 while Williamson was 2-for-2 with two RBIs. Jo Jo Booker batted 1-for-3 with a double and two RBIs while Weston Riddle added one RBI in the win.
Trentez Johnson was 1-for-3 with one RBI in the win for the Razorbacks of Arkansas.
