At their state tournament in Coosa, Brewton 10U Cal Ripken baseball team went 4-0 in pool play and captured the tournament’s overall top seed.
In their first four games, Brewton has outscored their opponents 42-5; shutout their first three opponents; pitched two one-hitters, and one two-hitter.
Brewton opened with a 10-0 win in four innings over Greensboro Saturday and followed that up with an 18-0 win in four innings over host Coosa Saturday night.
On Sunday, Brewton downed Childersburg 3-0 and then claimed an 11-5 win over Ashland.
Brewton was to play the tournament’s No. 8 (Sumter) seed Monday at 3 p.m. With a win, Brewton would play in the semifinals later Monday night at 7 p.m.
With a win in the 7 p.m. game, Brewton would play for the state championship Tuesday. The time of the championship game was TBA.

Brewton 10, Greensboro 0
Brewton’s Nolan Atkinson pitched a complete game one-hitter Saturday to lead Brewton to a 10-0 win over Greensboro in their first game Saturday.
Brewton led 1-0 after one inning and 3-0 after three before scoring seven in the fourth to get the mercy rule win.
Atkinson went four innings and allowed one hit, no runs, walked none and struck out two.
At the plate, Jaxson Flores went 1-for-2 with a double and one RBI while Kyle Blevins went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs. Atkinson went 1-for-3 with a triple and two RBIs while Ed Dolihite went 1-for-2.

Brewton 18, Coosa 0
Not to be outdone by his teammate Nolan Atkinson from earlier Saturday, Brewton’s Jaxson Flores pitched a complete game one-hitter to help Brewton move to 2-0 at state with an 18-0 win over host Coosa.
Flores went four innings on the mound and allowed no runs, no walks and struck out eight.
Brewton led 4-0 after one inning, 9-0 after two, 14-0 after three and 18-0 after four to get the mercy rule win.
At the plate, Brother Peace went 1-for-1 and Kyle Blevins was 2-for-3 with a triple and four RBIs.
Peyton Rowell went 2-for-3 with a triple and Trent Cooper went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs. Ed Dolihite added two doubles to go 2-for-3 and had three RBIs.

Brewton 3, Childersburg 0
Brewton’s Kyle Blevins was the star of the game for Brewton’s third game at state Sunday. Blevins pitched and hit Brewton to a 3-0 win over Childersburg to move to 3-0 at the tourney. It was Brewton’s third straight shutout.
Blevins had Brewton’s only two hits in the win as he went 2-for-2 with a double and had two RBIs.
On the mound, Blevins went the complete game six innings and allowed two hits, no runs, walked two and struck out 13.
The lone two runs of the game came in the fifth inning.

Brewton 11, Ashland 5
In their final game of pool play Sunday, Brewton picked up an 11-5 win over Ashland to move to 4-0 in the state tournament.
Down 3-1 after one inning and 5-2 after three innings, Brewton scored nine unanswered runs to get the six-run win.
Down 5-2 after three and 5-4 after the fourth inning, Brewton added three runs in the fifth and four in the sixth to get the win.
Nolan Atkinson and Bracken Pettis pitched in the win with Atkinson being the pitcher of record.
The duo combined to go six innings and allowed five hits, five runs, two earned, walked three and struck out eight.
At the plate, Jaxson Flores went 1-for-3, Kyle Blevins went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs while Cole Kelley went 1-for-2.
Atkinson went 1-for-3 and Peyton Rowell was 1-for-2 with a double and two RBIs.
